As we do every year, the boys and girls from 5th and 6th classes took part in two football competitions, Cumman na mBunscol and INTO mini-7's. All pupils who were interested took part in training after school with Mr. Kennedy, Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. McGuinness.
The girls team did very well this year and were fortunate to make it to both finals. The Cumman na mBunscol final took place before the Halloween break in Páirc na nGael against a strong Garrydoolis team. They played their hearts out and came away with the trophy. The INTO final has yet to be played. Our boys were not so fortunate this year but there is always next year!

In the first term of this school year, pupils from 2nd to 6th class take part in tag rugby each Friday with Kenneth McNamara. They always look forward to these lessons and it is a great chance for our pupils to take part in another sport.
Over the past few years many of our pupils have taken part in the Limerick Run. A sum of €5 is donated to our school for each child who registers and nominates their school. A very handsome sum of money has therefore accumulated and we have spent it on some new sports equipment; tennis/badminton net, gymnastics mats and more. Thank you to all the children who have participated to date!
We had fantastic weather for our annual Sports Day this year. The day went so quickly and all went home tired and happy! The sports the children participated in included; tennis, rugby, zumba, rounders, basketball, hockey, obstacle courses and the traditional 3-legged races, sack races and wheelbarrow races. What a great day!
The Inter-schools and Community Games athletics event took place in South Liberties on Bank Holiday Monday May 1st 2017. Many of our pupils took part.
Garryowen RFC hosted a blitz on May 3rd. Boys and girls from 5th and 6th classes attended on the day and really enjoyed the experience. They were very fortunate with the beautiful weather and the event was a great success.
