Scoil Ailbhe, Caherelly National School is a 8 teacher school (5 mainstream teachers, 1 Autism Class Teacher and 2 full-time Additional Educational Needs teachers, one part-time Additional Educational Needs Teacher & 4 full-time & 1 part time SNAs.). We are situated in a rural setting in East Limerick, a short distance from Limerick city and 4 miles from Ballyneety village on the main Limerick/Kilmallock Road (R512), also close to Caherconlish village.
Established in 1955 as a two teacher school we are now in the happy position of having newly renovated classrooms, a spacious General Purpose Hall, a sensory room and offices. We have a newly revamped playground and we enjoy access to the playing field adjoining the school which we avail of weather permitting.
This year we are in the fortunate position of opening our first Autism class in the school. We are very excited about this development as it has been a few years in the planning. Our school is inclusive and welcoming with a warm and caring atmosphere. There is a strong sense of belonging and community throughout the school. We take part in many initiatives which cater for the strengths of all of our pupils. We enjoy a very good relationship with parents, local preschools, primary schools and secondary schools, and local clubs and associations.
