I'm looking at the newspaper and I see that Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-0.WOW. ‘What else?’ I say to myself, What is going on today? I’m searching for something interesting.
‘Sport’ ‘Climate change big one’ ‘Covid-19’ ‘Housing shortage’ ‘The extinction of Indian Elephants’ My heart sank, an animal was gone forever. I look again and then I see, ‘Orangutans also extinct’ I almost fell to the ground. Another animal gone for good. I go to school and nobody knows about it. My friend asks me ‘What's wrong?’ ‘The, the...’ I stumbled for a second, ‘The Indian Elephant is extinct and so is the Orangutan!’ ‘Are you sure?’ he says, ‘YES!’ I shouted. And then my alarm went off and I woke up. If they were to become extinct would it make a difference to me? On the road called life we will go through many adventures some smooth some like a roller coaster where you must hold tight. As we grow we adapt to things, places, people around us ,that often means letting go of something to take hold of something else. Does it make a difference to me? It will make a difference to all of us as we won't all move in the same direction or at the same time, for me now that I am in sixth class there is so many new adventures ahead and that is so exciting for me. Now I am learning new things, reading new books expanding my interests, finding my road is not like others, does it make a difference to me? No, because to be Me is all I need to be, and You are all you need to be too, so let’s just get on with Life.
Some of my friends love to ice skate at Christmas, they go out to this lake that freezes over, they skate and skate for hours, my other friends like to make Christmas cookies and set up a stall at the market, does it make any difference to me? No because I love to help out at a soup kitchen where I meet some wonderful people and hear their stories, they come from all walks of life, does it make any difference to me of course it does, I love the work , people get a hot meal and time to fellowship, then as they leave they can stock up on what they need to get through the day.
In the evening all my friends come together and we chat about our adventures does it make any difference to me? Yes, because no matter where we go what we do we always meet together and that’s what makes a difference to me , Friends are for Life you see ! As I went out the door heading to school, there was a horrible smell coming from the local factory. The factory was polluting the air. There was black smoke every where. If only people thought of the earth not money. When I'm older I will help stop climate change and other things harming the atmosphere, environment and animals. But if I want to do something like that I will have to listen in class and do my homework. I wish for other people to step up and stop all the harm we are doing to the atmosphere.
Imagine the world without transport.
Imagine if you could only go 1 kilometre outside of your home. Just imagine that! Imagine how different life would be. We use transport almost every single day, and it’s important to survive. We need transport, but it depends what we use as transport and how we use it that effects our climate. For example, if every child cycled to school for a year or if you were too far away you could walk or take the bus rather than all parents driving cars. Imagine the positive effect that would have on climate change! One evening my friend and l and we were about to hop into my car and drive to our local
shop. Then we said - why can't we just walk? I mean it will only take an extra five or ten minutes and it would be a lot healthier and would save a lot of fossil fuels and we would feel so much better after doing a walk and it makes us fitter.. And do you know what? We felt so much better and fitter. We didn’t use up any petrol or create any pollution so it was a win win situation for us and the environment. I think Transport is great, you can get to any destination in a fast time. It’s bad for the environment I know but I think we shouldn’t change anything. I don’t think there should be a restriction on how far you can travel. I love traveling to a different country, I would hate to have that taken away from me. I do think diesel and petrol should be illegal by 2030 even in planes. I think there should be more rent a bike centres in the city and the government need to make it safer to cycle in the city.
The best form of transport is electric vehicles because they are clean and renewable energy.
The way we are traveling is letting out carbon emissions into the earth's atmosphere. I think long distance traveling should be restricted but it depends on where you are going and how far you are going. If people were not allowed to travel some business would go bankrupt and a lot of people would be unemployed . You would not be able to go on holidays or you would not get to see their granny, grandad or cousins or go to work. Cars and other petrol / diesel vehicles are harming Earth, and it's our job to save it. Ways of transport like cycling, running and walking are 100% eco-friendly, electric cars are only 85% eco-friendly still making a humongous difference to your average diesel car. Imagine that you are in 2060 and they won't let you drive your car because it's diesel powered, what I'm trying to say is that diesel cars have had their time, now it's time to make a change and go green. This way Earth has a chance to last longer , from now on we go green
The bicycle is the best form of transport because it doesn't use diesel or petrol. You can exercise at the same time as you go from place to place.
Everyday I travel to school by car. The car uses diesel, it let's out harmful gases that pollutes the air we breathe. I wish I could cycle to school but the road is very busy and dangerous and the weather can be bad too. Long distance travelling should only be restricted if you use forms of transport that are bad for the environment. If you use buses or trains it should not be restricted. If people could not travel ,some would be sad because travel is a hobby, some would be poor because they need to travel for their job. How could we live without transport, maybe we could all sprout wings, fly like the dove or soar like the eagle on high, nice thought!
Well let me tell you, this morning we woke to a different world, no trains , no buses, no cars, no boats, no planes nothing to be seen. Mom went off to work on her roller blades, Dad invented this hover board that runs on fresh air. My sister's and I have our faithful companion Chestnut our Mare, to bounce us bareback all the way to School “hold on you two” I’ve got the reins. Chestnut can graze while we study and play. Dad will use his pigeons to deliver the post and Morse code to send his news reports, Teacher was telling us we didn't always live like this, there was what they call transport yeah there were cars, buses, planes, trains, till someone thought it better to live without them for the sake of the environment! Oh, Dad can we just go back Please! I think a Bicycle is the best form of transport because it’s good for the environment and a good way to stay healthy.
Transport is a user of energy and causes a lot of pollution and has a negative effect on the planet. Long term travel will always be there but we need to make changes to make it better for the planet. If we could not travel we wouldn't be able to visit friends and family who live in different countries. Transport gives us opportunities to see the world. Hopefully we will improve the way it effects the planet . Emma Hennessy Travelling causes a lot of trouble if you drive a car , motorbike, plane and ; well you get the point . Every time you travel your vehicle releases carbon dioxide into the air ( also known as CO2 .) With too much carbon dioxide floating around Earth will begin to heat up and already is.
This is causing climate change all around the world wich is already affecting people , the weather and wildlife. BUT , we can make a difference if we do less travelling, or even cycle, run or walk more . It will make a difference . Transport is essential to our everyday living, whether it’s going to work, school, college, shopping, church services, summer holidays, we all need to get away sometime, smell the sea air, walk the forests visit a scenic site visit family or friends near and abroad. If we couldn't travel our daily needs may not be met, no food apart from what we could grow but never sell without transport. It would be quite difficult you see; we can live a Covid lockdown experience for the rest of our life on this earth We could try an Amish lifestyle be self sufficient. Maybe they had it right all the time, what if we could just go back to the horse and buggy a Simpler form of transport. Walk from farm to farm live as a community, it would sure be a big change to how we live today, anything is possible they say! The smoke crawled across the sky , then all of a sudden came a big gust of wind . The breeze did not linger for too long , and soon enough it had passed by , taking the smoke along with it . But no sooner than the smoke had vanished , more smoke came bellowing out of the large chimneys. Covering our lovely blue sky ; well what used to be a nice sky . All it is now is grey smoke and clouds creeping around covering all the daylight. What would happen if we kept this up ? What would happen to our environment ? These thoughts swirled around in my head just like the swirling grey smoke above . By Chloe Chawke I am driving up to Wicklow in Poulaphouca, I stop at a power station. I look around and think this is increasing global warming. Why do this to our beautiful planet? This same question keeps replaying over and over in my mind, I try to think of all the power stations in Ireland, I know there is some in Clare and a few others scattered all around Ireland. I try to imagine what life would have been like before power stations, and what it would be like if we got rid of them. If we don't make something change this so-called planet earth is basically going to fall apart and it might turn for the worst.
I’m driving by this power station and I stop to take a look. I ponder is this good or bad for the environment? It makes me feel sorry for all the animals and people that are living around there, because they may have to move from their homes. What if they will need to build or find a new one! Then I think why do we need a power station? If we don't have one, where would we get our electricity from? Is there another way so we can keep the environment safer? because we all need to live on this planet earth, so let’s work together to make life better.
When I was walking in town I smelt smoke and when I looked up I realised it was from the factory.
This made me feel sorry for all the animals that was living by. So I went home, I went straight on the laptop and started a protest to stop all this nonsense. I made a poster on how and why we should stop this. I uploaded it to the internet and printed out some posters and tried my hardest to stop this. Moral of the story: We should stop burning fossil fuels or other fuels to safe the environment. Sinead had been really looking forward to her birthday for such a long time. Her mom had promised to take her to Dublin zoo. So that meant a very early start and an exciting trip on the train. As the train travelled up the country, she admired the fields and countryside. However, as the train got closer to Dublin city, she started to notice lots of rubbish, lots of cars and more and more smoke in the air. She was disgusted by this. When she got off the train in Dublin and emerged from Heuston Station, she was horrified to see the smokestacks in front of her, practically bellowing grey death from the chimney tops circling around her making it hard to breath. She couldn’t imagine living like this. Ever since then Sinead has been doing her part to protect the environment and helping her friends and family to do the same.
The air is thick with smog. Every day it gets worse and worse. It’s like a storm cloud forming around the city, and soon it might surround more than just the city. All of the Earth could be in danger . BUT . There is something we can do . It might take some work but we can get there . We NEED to stop making and burning coal , because making coal is making fossil fuels , and burning coal is emitting fossil fuels . And that might not seem like much but it’s really harming our Earth . If we stop ,it will really help. There is no planet B. We need to remember that.
Broken fingers, bandaged toes
Machines grinded, dye flowed Labels printed, cloth sold Broken fingers, bandaged toes Red lights flashing, rumours told Urgent matters, horrors unfold Broken fingers, bandaged toes Industry standard, evacuation mould People afraid, blood runs cold Broken fingers, bandaged toes When disaster struck, In times of old, Workers fled, the fire was bold. When disaster struck, In times of old, Broken fingers, bandaged toesto edit. Hi, my name is Mark. I work in the medical industry as a doctor in St. John’s Hospital, Limerick.
I just had the week end off and it was a normal Monday morning like any other. As I was doing my rounds, the emergency alarm bell went off. It was the fire alarm, a red alert! Everyone had to leave the building urgently. The patients became very afraid with the sound of the alarm. Everybody had to evacuate the building following the evacuation procedure. The medical team managed to keep the patients calm as they evacuated the building. A small fire was put out quickly by the fire men. The lead up to Christmas is always a busy time for the chocolate manufacturing industry. Orders come in very early and are very large. Everyone is so busy, and managers are afraid orders won’t be done on time. The order tracking system on the factory floor flicked between orange and red. It was really important that we achieved green, and all orders had to be now treated as urgent.
It was four weeks to Christmas, and all was going well our tracking system was green for the last hour of everyday. Until one day the smoke alarm started beeping and we all had to evacuate the building. My friend Carla started work in the hospitality industry as a waitress, she hopes to rise to hotel management one day. Today was one of the worst days of her life, her alarm didn't go off, she met a red light on her drive to work which made her late, she was afraid of the consequences, to make matters worse there was a gas leak in the main kitchen, the staff had to evacuate urgently out a fire door, luckily the hotel was not open to the public today as the grand opening is tomorrow.
Wow what a leap into hotel management for my friend, you have got to always be ready for the eventuality! |
